Ramadan Kareem

Hope I'm not too late to wish everyone Salam Ramadan !
I pray that we're all able to make full use of this blessed month and work towards being the best possible version of ourselves.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to ask for forgiveness from everyone, and I hope we can start off with a clean slate. It's not nice to hold grudges anyway.

I was watching the 'Ramadan' story on Snapchat the other day, and it moved me how alllll muslims around the world are doing the exact same thing.
We're all fasting. We're all working towards being closer to Allah. We're all striving to be better in one way or another, and that is so, so beautiful. Something that I always remind myself is : Allah loves a person who is consistently trying to better themselves. And that's what we should try to do everyday, especially in this holy month. Even though the shaytan is locked away, the influence is still there. It's like stirring a cup of coffee with a spoon ; even when you take the spoon out after you stir, the coffee still spins. That's why we find ourselves still being lazy to pray, or to do anything that is beneficial. So our goal this month should be to eliminate the influence shaytan has on us.

Ramadan is a month that teaches us obedience. Look at it this way ; for one month, the halal (food) becomes haram during the day. Somehow, even people who barely pray will also fast during this month, but why ? For the most part, we are supposed to obey Allah without question, not obey without understanding. So prior to and during Ramadan itself, we always hear the benefits of why we should fast, why it's good for us, what it can bring us, and so on so forth. And that's why it is easier for us to do the act of worship. Because we know that it's good for us. But what about other months, where we don't obey as much. The reason is simple ; it's because we don't fully understand yet why we have to. That's why Allah sends down Ramadan. This whole month is to train our hearts to accept, to obey. If we can refrain from food (something that is halal, something that we need) during Ramadan, I'm sure we can refrain from things that are actually haram in other months. We just need to educate ourselves. There's a reason behind all of Allah's commands, and everything He asks of us, is not for His benefit, it's for OURS ! The sooner we get that, the easier it is for us to obey without question, and instead seek to understand.

A little life update before I end the post, I'm practically done with my sixth semester ! I only have finals to sit for in the next two weeks, and then I'll be freeee. One more short semester and then I'm done with my diploma. I won't be working until after raya, so that I can make way to focus on acing my finals, and also to spend more time with loved ones. Ended my "last" day of work and the beginning of Ramadan with pizza and lots of laughs with the FV Bangsar gang. Work doesn't feel like work when you have good friends working with you ! So funny how I miss them already but chilllll, I'm coming back after Raya hahah.

I'm sorry if you're looking at this while fasting hahaha

Also, I had class yesterday at 8PM. So my friends and I went to the bazaar to get food, and break fast together before class. We bought sooooo much food it was ridiculous.
Thank God we're all big eaters, so nothing really went to waste. If you're ever at the bazaar ramadan at the stadium in Seksyen 13,  look for the Briyani Ghafur (?) stall,
I had their briyani and it was really, really good.

By the time we wanted to walk to class, all of us felt like throwing up already because we were too full hahah.
Plus, Sol, Ainaa, Fikri and I had a presentation (and we were the first group) for Employment Law so lagi la.
We're lucky no one puked while presenting (Pitch Perfect, anyone ?) hahahaha.

Again, salam Ramadan to everyone ! Remember to always be grateful.
I love you guys. x

PS : If you haven't read Vivy's latest post 'Ramadan Checklist', you should ! I love all her posts really, but this one in particular,
and the part about the rukun Islam especially, was very heartwarming and nice to read. Definitely one of my favourite posts from her.

    1. Hii ! Salam Ramadan to you too ! Haha thank you, and yessss personally I think the georgette is a lot easier to wear than the mixed crepe. But for the newer mixed crepes, it's a bit easier to style tho cause they made the material softer. Oh but I have a new favourite, and it's the Silkka Shawls from @crease.co on Instagram. Sooo easy to bentuk and not jarang. I LOVE.

  9. Hye Izza I know this has nothing to do with this post! Haha just wondering, do you talk to Irfan everyday? Hm, I'm used to messaging my boyfriend every single day (not 24/7) but at least we keep each other updated every now & then. But now, everything has changed. My boyfriend's kinda busy with his things & he rarely talks to me. Should I be concerned? I just hate the thought that he's probably bored of me or something

    1. Hiii ! Yes we talk everyday. Hmm, there was a point where Irfan and I were really busy and we barely talk. I thought of the same thing you're thinking now (bored of me) but after a while I just realise that he's actually not and he's literally just busy haha. You shouldn't be concerned if he doesn't act weird and still expresses his love for you every now and then, but to be safe you should talk to him and ask. Don't worry too much ! x
