Still Got That Raya Spirit

Hi ! LONG TIME NO BLOG. I'm just going to skip the whole explaining and apologising part about how infrequent slash unpredictable and messy my blogging pattern has become because well, let's all just face the fact and admit that it's still the same reason : Uni. I was busy before raya, I was busy during raya, and it's after raya now and guess what ? I'm still busy. Sigh. But someone suggested that I blog at least twice a week, and I think it's a great idea ! I'll try to make that happen but if I don't deliver.. please don't kill me.

Besides formal education on weekdays, my weekends have been filled with open houses and a wedding. I'm running out of baju to wear already! I've also been spending ridiculous amounts on things I don't need. So to compensate the loss of my duit raya, I'm trying to earn back the money by selling more of my stuff on Carousell lol.
Have a look to see if you might be interested in anything : Izza Atirah's Carousell !

Yesterday was pretty hectic. Subway was short of staff and since I'm in this whole process of regaining my raya money, I said yes to working the morning shift. Odd, but I actually missed working so it wasn't a struggle for me to wake up and be in by 7AM haha. Working in F&B means the chances of having to serve unpleasant and suuuper crappy customers are always high and yesterday was no exception. It baffles me how some people have no manners at all when it comes to treating people who they think are ""below"" them. Sad to say, but I face this with Malays mostly and I am embarrassed for my own race. Is it really that difficult to ask nicely ? I don't always expect a please and thank you, but there is a certain degree of politeness that I think everyone is capable of meeting. Like uh, I don't know, this thing called common courtesy ? Don't snap at the person serving you, don't make a face and expect us to understand that you're going through a horrible day (we couldn't care less),  don't make a mess if you're not going to clean it up, just bottom line : don't be rude ! Highlight of me working yesterday is Ary and Ammar coming to visit me at the end of my shift, so sweet of them haha.

Right after work, I rushed back home to shower and get ready. I was invited to 6 open houses this weekend but I only managed to attend 2. So I went to Nabel's first, it was so good to see him, Jiha, Asyraaf and his mum ! His mum was our ustazah / class teacher for two years, so we even call her Umi (mum in Arabic) hahaha. I really wished Jane was able to make it too because it's so difficult to get the 5 of us to meet but oh well.

I drove to Farah's after that, where I reunited with my super duper best friends (minus Tania, sobs). Farah's house has like mini steep heels going up and down the roads. I had to park somewhere up which meant I had to walk down.. in 4 inch heels. And back up to Farah's street and back down after the gate. It was a miracle that I managed but it was hilarious !! I think everyone around me was just waiting for me to fall so they could all burst out laughing hahaha but I didn't guys. I kept my cool. The rest of my time there was spent laughing at each other over fizzy orange drink and fluffy cheesecakes, taking photos and eating kuey teow basah.
I love my friends too much even though we act like complete retards around each other :')

Ariff and Mukhnizam too busy staring at their beautiful girlfriends.

  4. Hi Izza. This is totally not related to your post but I'm having a terrible dilemma here. Do you have any friends who are doing law as their degree? Are they doing well? Say - they're getting 2:1 for their first year or even better, first class? Uni starts this Sept for me. I have a passion for law but I am just not sure if I'd be able to do well :( Ahhh the pressure. On another note, my dad thinks I should do economics but I don't think I can ever do Economics cos I'm not that interested in it and I don't think I have a strong enough passion for economics to be doing it as my degree. Pls help :(((

P/S happy to see an update! have always loved reading your blog <3

    1. Hi ! My best friend Farah just started her law degree so I can't really say how well she's doing haha, but I do know people who take law and although they are doing well, it's no walk in the park. It's full on hard work and dedication. But if you have the passion for it then nothing is impossible ! About your situation with your dad, I went through the same thing but it was with my mum and my aunty. I wanted Law or International Relations, but they pushed me to take Human Resource. Something I had absolutely no interest in or any knowledge of at all ! But I agreed anyway and somehow I managed to do really well and I guess it's true when they say family knows best. So right now it just comes down to you, if you really really want law, then go for it. Otherwise, try Economics or look up different courses that you and your dad might both agree to.

If you're muslim, pray istikarah and ask for guidance. Whatever you end up choosing is what's best for you, I'm sure :) And thank you so much for reading my blog ! Your support means the world to me <3

    1. Hii ! Aw, I'm sorry you didn't get what you hoped for :( I think you can pretty much masuk any course (except for medicine / engineering / things like that) with a tesl foundation. What are you interested in ? I suggest you browse through this page : http://www.msu.edu.my/v10/undergraduate-programmes.php They have the list of courses there and I think you might be able to find something you're interested in. I would suggest, but I don't know what you like and I don't even know all the courses MSU provides haha. You can also pay a visit to msu and just talk to one of the counsellors to see which course might be suitable for you, they're quite helpful :)

  7. Izza do you ever own instant shawl? Do you wear it and what do you think of it?

  8. Izza! The eye centre in msu tu is it expensive? Because i accidently stepped on my specs and broke half of the frame. And now i desperately needs to repair them but i takut mahal sngt if repair. Sigh

    1. I'm not sure if it's expensive or not.. I think it's quite reasonable. I changed the lens of my glasses for 100+. You should just go in and ask them to quote a price for that. If mahal sangat, go look for another optometrist :)

    1. I've been wanting to but still trying to figure out what content to put in it to make it relatable for everyone. Because not every college is the same and what I go through in college might not be how everyone else is so yeah. Will work on it !

    2. Omg I'm so sorry your roommates are like that. But don't be mad at them and don't be mean to them, they're just trying to help you but the way they're doing it is wrong. And whatever it is, you have to remember that the only one worthy of judging you is Allah alone. Other people are insignificant. I know it's really difficult, lagi lagi when they judge and assume the worst of you. But you know you're trying and Allah knows you're trying and that's already more than enough. Just be nice to them no matter how mean and judgemental they are, hopefully they'll change the way they act towards you because of that. Stay strong okay ! xx
