Fashion Week has always been one of those events that I want to be a part of but know it's never going to happen.

Or at least that was what I thought.

The first time I attended a fashion show, it was Prêt à Porter a few months ago and I remember jokingly saying to Irfan "Now it's Prêt à Porter, next thing you know I'll be attending Fashion Week !" so you could imagine how thrilled I was to find an invitation in my email inbox from one of the organisers who found my blog content interesting.
I mean, wow. Me ?? At Fashion Week ?! I'm not even a fashion blogger (nor am I even fashionable hahaha) ! Without hesitation, I jumped at the opportunity and ta-da, Izza Atirah is attending a show for Fashion Week. And it wasn't just any show,  it was Alia Bastamam's ! I simply adore her designs, and I personally dub her as Malaysia's Elie Saab. Alia's pieces are always stunning and elegant. Classic cuts, flowy silhouettes in the most gorgeous subtle shades of pastel colours (and a bit of black too). The slot was also showcasing pieces by Singaporean designer ; Thomas Wee.

I was already in the KL area by 3PM since I had an appointment in a building opposite to Pavilion, and after that was done, I hung around Pavilion by myself until the show at 9PM. I had loaaaads of time to kill so I went to the KLFW registration counter and gave my name to get my passes to avoid rushing later on and then I went walking around looking at clothes and had something to eat. I invited  my cousin slash baby sister Hannah as my +1 and her parents dropped her off at Pavilion minutes before the show.

Got our passes checked and I was already smiling when we walked in towards the runway area. We were allowed to sit anywhere after the third row, so Hannah and I settled for seats that were slightly above ground so we could see everything better. And man, did we pick good seats hahaha. The crowd was starting to build up, and while I was checking my camera settings Hannah poked me and said "Kak Izza look, that guy is so cute", I looked at him and realized that I know him and we've worked with each other for a Baskin Robins ad hahaha. It was Daler ! I'll insert a photo from our shoot a year++ ago hahaha. Excuse my watermelon sticker (it's for obvious reasons) ! Daler is the one on the right. (@daleryusuf on Instagram)

He came and sat right behind us, I was contemplating on whether or not I should say hi and Hannah said I should so I did, and he remembered me ! LOL. He's from Uzbekistan and Malay is probably like his 3rd or 4th language, but it was so cute how he was like "Yeah I remember ! Pakai tudung now ?" with an accent haha. We talked for a bit, and then I left him alone because I didn't wanna be annoying hahaha. So I was playing with my camera again until he started the conversation again and told me I have a nice a camera. That's when we took the selfie in the video. So random. I didn't think I'd meet anyone I knew  (celebrities are a whole different story) at KLFW but there was Daler, and I also met my friend Al Adam there, and saw Juliana

Shortly after that, I spotted the Mimpikita sisters Nurul and Mira Zulkifli. Took photos from a distance like a stalker and then the next thing I knew, Hannah and I were scooting to the left so that Mira and Nurul could sit beside us. Everything felt so surreal like what. is. happening. I didn't think we were going to sit below a male model and next to amazing designers like what is life right now ?? I wanna stay here forever. I lost it when I saw Vivy walking to her seat in the front row hahaha. I was shrieking in my seat and told Hannah that I have to get a photo with her. Wajib. Hannah and I squealed at the sight of Fazura too. My God, that woman is gorgeous in person. She looks absolutely flawless !

The show started and I felt the rush all over again. The music, the well-lit runway, the models, the beautiful clothes. The atmosphere was even better than I expected it to be. Thomas Wee's designs were showcased first, and although I'm not a fan of structured pieces, I do admire how he was able to incorporate bits of traditional Chinese patterns into modern cuts that worked with his style. Also love, love, loved the high neckline on some of his pieces. Such a classic. Alia Bastamam's designs on the other hand wow-ed me from start to end. The attention to detail Alia has is incredible. I loved the pleats, the flowy cuts, everything was so, so beautiful and very minimalistic and feminine. Which I liked.

After the show ended and we all stood up to walk out, Hannah wanted a photo with Daler so I took the picture and said goodbye to him. He ended it with "See you, you look really great in tudung by the way !". Made. My. Day. Hahaha. I saw Vivy like 5 feet away from me taking a photo with a few girls and I immediately walked towards her. I wasn't going to let the opportunity of meeting her pass ok ! I came up to her and said hi. I couldn't contain myself and blurted out "Vivy I'm your biggest fan". God Izza..... If there was a competition to act cool, I would definitely be the first one to fail hahaha. She giggled and said thank you, and we took a photo together ! She really is beautiful and humble. The way she carries herself and everything is just, perfection. I really wished I could have spoken to her longer but a few other people were waiting to talk to her too so Hannah and I scouted for Fazura next. Walking out, we saw ttfga (@ttfga on Instagram) in front of Guess and Hannah took a photo with him.

Drove back to Hannah's that night after getting burgers. After we ate, I showered and then we listened to music and then fell asleep. The next day, I went our for lunch with my best friends in Publika and headed home. The past couple of days were so good and I'm still smiling about it now. Thinking about the opportunities that have opened up for me lately is overwhelming. It has only been (almost) a year since I started blogging publicly but I'm so lucky to have already gotten invitations to different events, and being given stuff for free from companies because they wanna know what I think about it as an influencer. I had to pass up some of those opportunities due to my studies (like going for a Kiehl's launching event / attending Zalora's Lebaran show and getting my own photographer / etc), but insyaAllah more will open up to me in the near future. I think part of the reason why I'm getting all of this is because I am genuine and passionate about what I blog about, and I really, honestly wouldn't have been able to do any of this if it weren't for the support I get from you guys on my blog. Thank you so so so much, I am incredibly grateful.

I'm sorry my video diary for KLFW isn't much. By the time I was at Pavilion it was raining outside and I didn't have anywhere I could record myself or anyone to help hold my camera for me hahaha. But I hope you managed to catch a glimpse of what KLFW is like and I hope you had fun going through this experience with me ! Here's to more in the future. xo

    1. Hi ! I see, hmm. I think there's no better way than to talk to her nicely without ruining the friendship. Be honest but not mean. I've had friends like her too, and sometimes I do tell them straight but most of the time I drop hints here and there so they get the message. Just talk to her :)

    1. Hi ! I think it's easier to make an account, that way you can just type what you're looking for and discover new sellers from there. That's how I find most of the stuff / accounts on Carousell too :) Thank you so much ! xx

  7. Izzaaaa omg congratssssss!!!! So lucky of you to be invited amongst all the famous people. Your blog is truly amazing i must say. Ive read one too many blogs like naddy rahman and juliana natasha to name a few. Eventhough they are more famous, like naddy rahman, she a social media ambassor, her blog stands no match against yours. Youre able to touch the hearts of your readers. Make them relate to you in every aspect of life. You taught me things that helped me through my life as a 17 y/o. Youre my biggest inspiration in life and also to start blogging. When i read this, i immediately knew this is what i want. I want to be like you. Thank you izza. May you be granted with more oppurtunities. Maybe someday, youll be like vivy but only better. You deserve it izza! Im sure youll make a name for yourself, at the rate youre going you will! Thank you for being my source of inspiration. I really want to start blogging soon though. What are your advises for me? Also, how did you gain all the attention from all these organizers and all?

    1. Thank you so much !!! Reading your whole comment got me so emotional (in a good way) ! T.T You have no idea how much I appreciate your support. My purpose of blogging is really just to share about my life, I had no intention of being 'known' or even being the next Vivy haha but I think I just got lucky. Still, alhamdulillah for everything. To be in the same sentence as Vivy, Naddy and Juliana itself is already a compliment ! I'm really glad what I've written on my blog has helped you in ways I never imagine it could, can't believe what I write has the power to change and inspire you.

You should ! Blogging is a lot of fun if you're passionate about it, just make sure you have the right intentions and opportunities will come to you. Focus on writing good content, but always be yourself in the process. Don't do it to impress others, and do it solely for you ! About gaining attention, I think it's because of my Instagram. I don't have that many followers but most of these people who found my blog, are usually from finding my Instagram first. They actually have jobs for people to stalk potential 'influencers' as they'd like to call it, so before they contact you, these guys will stalk your social media and all that first. Creepy but that's how it is. Also, I take a lot of photos with people so someone will eventually find me from another person's Instagram and yeah that's how it happened. OH and here's another advice ; don't share too much of your life when you blog. You can share most of it, but not to the extent that you become transparent. I'll use myself as an example ; I blog about things that make me happy. When I fight with my friends or boyfriend or family, I never ever publish anything on here even though it's tempting. I don't post when I'm miserable. I only post what I want other people to see. Personal information is also very important to keep private, it's okay to mention your area but never mention your street or where your parents work or anything like that.

Thank you so much for reading my blog and most importantly for believing in me. Your comment has truly motivated me to keep writing. Thank you for making my day ! And do leave me a link to your blog once you do start. But focus on school first okay ! <3

  8. hi izza! hanis just posted a new post and she came out publicly with her being the owner behinid pop and soap and pop box. I have been waiting for her to admit it cause I have been a customer so many times that I kinda knew it was her. But shes never answered any of the comments I sent about her business. you both are so inspirational! You on the blog and fame part and being a good person, hanis on the business and the successes shes made and anonymously too! (till now that is). you guys really set the bar for us other girls. Nothing is impossible. I believe in it now all thanks to you and also Hanis. I dont know how she juggles it between studies, you too with your part time job. I cant cope with my studies alone, any tips ??

    1. Hi ! Yeah, I've read her post. So proud of her for coming out because I know that wasn't what she wanted when she first started. Thank you so much ! <3 Haha but I never ever wanted fame though, it just grew along with my blog (having mixed emotions about this) so I'm hoping if my blog does become widely recognised, I hope it's for good things. Thank you for your kind words about Hanis and I ! It blows my mind how we're able to inspire you this way. Juggling is never easy ! But it helps to always stay organised and to know exactly what and when you should be doing. As long as you keep your priorities straight, and of course with lots and lots of du'a, you can do pretty much anything InsyaAllah :) x
