Matte My Match

It's been a while since I've blogged about make up, but SILKYGIRL have kindly sent me a few lip products to try out recently
and I am more than stoked to be reviewing their new Matte Fever line !

On the SILKYGIRL website, it says that these Matte Fever Lipcolor Balms are enriched with Calendula Flower Oil, White Mulberry Extract and Vitamin E to soften and soothe your lips. Personally after trying them out for a couple of weeks, I do find these to be non-drying at all and I'm pretty sure it's because of the oils that are in the formula.

Other things I like love about these babies :

 1. Pigmentation

The colour payoff from these are amazing. They are so pigmented that you don't need to swipe multiple times for the colour to show.
Which also means you don't need to use much of it = it won't run out as fast = you save $$$ since it's gonna take you a while to finish one.
That's a win-win situation if you ask me. Hehe.

2. Retractable

You know how some products you can twist them up but you can't twist them back down and you're just stuck there trying to make it go in cause you can't put the cap back on.
This one twists out AND back in, guys. If you're OCD and into details of things like me, holla at yo' gurl. This one's for us.

3. Lightweight

When I see the word 'Matte', I get a little scared that it's gonna feel heavy and yuck on my lips. But this one is not only non-drying, it feels super lightweight on my lips too ! BONUS. It feels like having lipbalm on, hence then name 'Matte Fever Lipcolor Balm'. For something that has a matte finish, I just love the feeling of having these on my lips.

4. Long-wearing

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you'd know how much I love my SILKYGIRL Moisture Boost Lipstick (Shade 01 Naked) and how it's my everyday lip product. But the only thing that I wish could be better is the lasting power on my lips ! I have to reapply multiple times if I'm out throughout the day and it can be quite tiring. I went out the other day with the Matte Feverl Lipcolor Balm shade 06 Charm on my lips, and they lasted for so long ! Even after eating and drinking, the colour is still there on my lips, though not as strong as when I first applied it. After probably like 5 hours, most of the product has disappeared on my lips but it still leaves behind this beautiful subtle tint of colour on them. Love !

5. Fragrance

It says that these lip products have no fragrance in them on the website, but I disagree. They do have a fragrance but I think what they meant was that it isn't artificial.
Anyway, it smells really good. My favourite kind of scents are always the delicious yummy kind, and this smells sort of like.... vanilla cupcake batter.
I have no better way of describing it but you get the point hahaha.

6. No Animal-Testing

SAY NO TO ANIMAL TESTING. I think it's cruel to use animals to test out anything. Medical or Cosmetics-wise but sometimes it's just unavoidable because companies haven't found an alternative to animal-testing yet. Sigh, it breaks my heart thinking about how over 100 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused in US labs every year for testing purposes. But there are VERY few companies that don't do this, The Body Shop, NYX. But major companies like MAC, Bobbi Brown, Revlon, L'Oreal, they all use animal testing.
So to find a product that hasn't been tested on animals like this Matte Fever Lipcolor Balm by SILKYGIRL over here ? You've won over my heart.

7. Paraben-Free

Paraben is sort of a chemical used mostly in cosmetics for their anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. But with Parabens present in formulas, allergies may occur, 20 grams of Parabens are also found in Breast Cancer tumors, and Paraben on the skin can react to UVB rays leading to increased skin ageing and DNA damage.
Matte Fever Lipcolor Balms have no Parabens in them. So worry not, folks.

8. Carmine-Free

Carmine is basically a red pigment slash dye. Okay, so what's so wrong about dye ? Hehe I wanna shock everyone with this part : Carmine is an insect. An. Insect. A beetle to be more specific. Carmine when crushed, lets out this red substance that we humans take as red dye, in food, in cosmetics, in textiles. These insects are from South America and Mexico that live as parasites on cactus plants and has been associated with severe allergic reactions. Although Carmine dyes are non toxic, they do come from crushed beetles
And if that doesn't gross you out then.. I don't know man, you're weird. Please go Google 'Carmine Beetle' and look at the images haha.

They have 6 pretty shades in this line of Lipcolor Balms :

The 3 shades that I received are :  02 Desire, 05 Passion and 06 Charm.

LIP SWATCHES !

Shade 02 : Desire

Shade 05 : Passion

My personal favourite ;

Shade 06 : Charm

Shade 02 and 06 are the ones I would most likely wear out, shade 05 is a really pretty colour too but not really up my alley !

Matte Fever Lipcolor Balms are available at all major pharmacies and supermarkets that carry the brand SILKYGIRL, and currently retails for RM22.90 per stick.
Please look for them to swatch all of the colours at the back of your hand and meet your match, cause I've definitely 'matte' mine ! Hahaha pun intended :p
I highly recommend these because they're amaaaazing. (I think I've given enough reasons why). So go get them !

You've done it again, SILKYGIRL. Can't wait for more new incredible products in the future !

    1. Set I ada RT Sam's Picks, individual tools I ada RT Miracle Complexion Sponge and RT Expert Face Brush.

    2. Waah where did you get all those and how much? I ada jumpa sam's picks online its very affordable but unfortunately tak authentic. You rasa is it worth it for a cheapskate like me? I mean yeah the quality tak sama but what do you think? :/

    3. I got them from @popandsoap on Instagram :) They sell it cheaper than the others but I tak ingat how much exactly, I think Sam's Picks was about 115 like that, and the sponge was 32, expert face brush was.. 40 maybe. Your brushes don't have to be Real Techniques tau to apply makeup well ! It could be from any brand or no brand at all it just needs practice. RT punya brushes are great, yes. But using ANY brushes pun you can still achieve flawless looking makeup, so yeah if you find a brush set that you think is good enough for your needs, go ahead !! :) Just make sure you ask them what the brush hairs are made of (to avoid anything haram ke apa yknow).

  7. izzaaa! Hows your olivia camera? I was thinking to buy one to make vlogs hehe. Can u list the pros and cons? :) and the price too. Thank you x

    1. Haha it's an Olympus camera, the name I gave her is just Olivia haha. I'm probably not the right person to list pros and cons cause I'm super biased when it comes to my camera because.. it's mine so I can't / won't have anything negative to say about it. Price is about 2k. But video is not one of it's strengths though, if you want a camera that's good for vlogging try Canon G7X. Zoella and almost all the YouTubers out there use that camera to vlog. 1. If laundry, I cakap dry clean. If handwash I ambik a pail and isi air and then put softener in it and just rendam my scarves for a few minutes. I don't use washing detergent sebab takut its too harsh haha.

  12. I bought duckscarves last week in Bamboo, but i found out the quality not that good, how come they can sell that kind of material with so expensive price, dah lah susah nk hilang kedut, and cepat sangat kedut balik. Haih

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't know, maybe it's just the bamboo cotton range. I have no issues with my georgette / mixed crepes. But yeah, they are expensive and if you're not happy with the quality and think you deserve a refund / exchange. Email them or something.

  13. Which matte lipcolour is suitable for tanned skin and oily skin??? I bought the wrong one which is vogue. Bila try dkt tgn ok but bila kat bibir it doesn't suits me at all. I wanna cry

    ReplyDelete

    1. I'm not sure which is suitable because I only know what I like, and even then I don't know if it suits me. So I'm definitely not the person to be recommending you lipcolors.. but if you can't find a shade that suits you, you should try other lip products with more shades ?

  16. Bonjour beautiful Izza! I need your clarification abt these matte lipcolour balms..has been looking for an explanation abt it quite awhile. Im hoping you could help me regarding this matter. Is desire & charm differs significantly? Looking back at those photos youve posted, i find that both of them look quite similar.. Is it? Sorry for troubling you izza. Anyway, do not be sad okay, chin up! You look better with a smile on your face :3 just bear in mind, riding rollercoaster of life at times can be fun, even its full of surprise, in fact it'd take you to the lowest point of life, but i promise you, its not going to last and the sorrow will boom! Disappear! When the times come. keep on cherish every moment you had okay? And, you have us, everybody loves you tahu. Looking forward for your reply & many more posts from you! Have a nice day young lady! x

    1. Bonjour ! They're not that different but Charm has sort of a darker undertone to it, Desire is lighter. But you should try swatching them on your hand in the pharmacy, that's the best way to differentiate the shades better :)

And thank you so much for the sweet reminder. I'll remember that the next time I feel like giving up on everything. So glad I have you guys T.T Love you, have a nice week ahead of you ! xx

    2. *time comes. God. (Sorry i am sucha grammar-nazi to myself)(grammar-nazi freak) Sadly... There was no tester for no 2; desire at the pharmacy I went to. Ugh. So frustrating! But anyway, I'm loving the charm!! <3 thanks to you. Keep posting! Tbh, i love love love your makeup stuffs, not too expensive and good in quality. Hehe! Love your posts. All of them. I wish we're friends in real life! Haha! Whatever it is, do not give up! Always have faith & we are always here for you. Love you most izza! And back at you, sweet! x
