Shamine x Izwan

My Kak Long is finally hitched to her boyfriend of 10 years ! They've been together since they were 16, now 26, and ever since I was little I always remembered Abang Izwan being at every family open house, without fail. I always knew that they'd get married, and now that they are, I'm super, super happy for them ! Kak Long is the first among my cousins to get married, which explains why all of this is such a big deal to me / us. Weddings I've gone to have always been for people I barely knew, (minus my mum's obvs), so it was nice to finally be a part of a wedding for someone I'm close to. My cousins and I are really tight, we don't see each other a lot but I swear we're all best friends and it's really easy to have fun and be happy around them.

The night before the wedding (Friday), Kak Long, Kak Keyna and Hannah picked me up from Victoria Station, where I was having dinner with my family, and we headed off to KLGCC for the wedding rehearsal. My cousins and I are the bridesmaids slash the girls who carry the dulang(s) during the ceremony. Decorations were insanely beautiful. I loved that everything was white and elegant. After the briefing and quick run-thru the itinerary for the wedding, all of us went to Bestari to have Indomee burger before crashing at Mak Long's house. When we got home it was around 1.30AM, you'd think we went to bed straight. But no.. Kak Keyna and I were helping Hannah with her assignment, they slept around 4, I fell asleep an hour before that haha.

On the big day we all woke up around 6, showered and wore normal clothes and went to KLGCC with Kak Long, Kak Keyna, Hannah and Kak Sue. It was busy when we got there, make up artists, photographers, the caterers, wedding planners, the designer of Kak Long's wedding dress and the rest of our family were all busy getting ready for the big event. Hannah and I changed and got ready like an hour before the wedding started. I was really happy when Cik Na's family arrived (Kak Lyn, Yan and Nisha's family), out of all my cousins, I see them the rarest since they live in Seremban.

The ceremony went smoothly ( I didn't trip or drop the dulang thank God). There were so many people ! The moment Kak Long walked in, Papa Jimmy started crying, and the rest of us started getting teary too. Everyone in the hall had tears in their eyes when Abang Izwan said the lafaz in one breath. SO EMOTIONAL. First Kak Long is getting married, and I have a feeling Kak Nisha is going to be next, and then Kak Sue.. next thing you know. BAM, it's my turn. We're all growing up, it's scary yet so exciting. Time is moving at a really fast pace. It just emphasises on how important it is to cherish every single moment. Anything can happen to any of us at any given moment, but I really do hope I live long enough to get married though. InsyaAllah. Whoa okay, I'm getting out of topic. This is a happy post not a sad, depressing one. Okay ? Okay.

Now, for the much awaited (jk) spam of photos !

MIA : Kak Long, Kak Keyna & Kak Sue.

Do you see the family resemblance ? Gene pool game : Strong

People used to think we were triplets / sisters. Izyan, Izza, Izlyn (our names are even alike, I don't blame them haha)

Kak Long's family ; Zaim, Kak Keyna, Papa Jimmy, Mak Long and Kak Sue.

Stuck with them 90% of the time haha. Kak Yan, Hannah, Kak Nisha, Kak Lyn.

Right before we had to walk in the hall ! Dulangs were crazy heavy.

We have a WhatsApp group named after my nenek for our group of cousins. "Cucu Nek Laili" hahaha

Details.

Bridesmaids ! (two at the far end on the leftand the two girls beside Hannah aren't my cousins though)

Who could resist mirrors.

Baby sister a.k.a Hannah a.k.a the reason Irfan and I are together now

Post jumping and running on the golf course for wedding photographs. Sweaty and tired, ew.

When you realize that the cape behind your baju is actually a hood.

Little brothers a.k.a anak bongsu(s) of the families.

A+ acting goes to the boys. MIA : Haiqal

Food was delish, desserts were exquisite. I loved the door gifts ! Jewellery box with sort of patterned tiles on top and Hershey's kisses inside. And for the kids, little jars of Sticky candy. I love that weddings bring everyone together. I had so much fun. From dressing up to pigging out and getting nutella on my tudung and everything else, it was definitely a memorable day for all of us. And guess what, this was only the akad nikah. The reception is happening this end of the month at Shangri-La, and I'm already crazy excited for that, you have no idea. We're all going to have matching outfits. My parents, my cousins, my cousins' parents, my brother. All of us. We all got the same fabric + lace but the design depends on us, I can't wait for our huge family photo. That's the one thing I'm most excited about haha.

I adore weddings.
