Queen T's 19th

My best friend Tania turned 19 last Saturday and we celebrated her birthday at Cat In The Box cafe in Empire Damansara yesterday. It was sooooo good to finally see all 9 of my best friends at the same time, it's been a while since all 10 of us hung out together. But before that, I drove from Bukit Jelutong to Setia Alam to Damansara yesterday and it was the farthest I've ever driven since I got my driver's license last October ! It's a freaking huge deal to me haha. My parents left for Melaka on Saturday morning and I still had my final mid-semester exam paper to sit for at 12.30PM  on the same day. Because of that, my step dad took his (slash his parents') old car from my grandparents' house to let me use. The car's air-con wasn't working before this and my step dad finally repaired it so I won't die of heat when I do use the car. It's an old Daihatsu Charade that has turbo installed in the engine so when I accelerate it picks up speed a little bit faster than an average car hahaha. I've driven it once to work and then I tried driving it again in the morning before my paper just so I could get used to the car a little bit more. I drove to msu and managed to reach home safely (didn't hit anyone's car this time hahaha you'd get it if you've been reading my blog for a while now). On Sunday, I was hoping that my mum and dad would reach home before I had to leave so I wouldn't have to drive, but they were only coming home around maghrib and my mum told me to drive there and that's exactly what I did.

Nervous but I was confident that I could, so I left the house at 6 with my brother Zicky. We drove to Hanis' house in Setia Eco Park, Setia Alam and reached there in about 15 minutes. Which is not bad because I honestly thought I needed like half an hour at least. Oh and before I left I turned my IC into a Touch N Go, all I needed to do was go somewhere that has the machine to reload (I went to the Petronas in my neighbourhood) and ask them to reload to whatever amount I wanted and voila, I could use it right away. I thought there'd be forms to fill or an online registration or anything like that but the process was hassle-free, I wish I would have done that sooner. All my train rides would have been a hell lot quicker without having to queue for tickets. After picking Hanis up, we made our way to Damansara. We dropped Zicky at Curve since he wanted to have dinner with a friend there. Drove to Empire Damansara, and it was already sort of dark and the rain was getting heavier. Thank God we were close already. Parked in the confusing parking lot near a big lift, and we were so lucky that it was the lift nearest to the restaurant. All we had to do was go up to the first floor from the level we parked, step out and you can see the cafe !

Glad we made it in one piece !

Tania's party was supposed to start at 7, we got there around 7.15 and the rain was super heavy. To get to the cafe we needed to walk under the heavy rain since the place has sort of like an open concept so there were no roofs leading to the cafes (they should work on that), but thank God for the adorable polka dotted umbrella my sweet boyfriend got me from Japan, we (well the top 3/4 of us) were safe from the rain ! The bottom of my pants and my shoes were soaked but better that than my whole body and tudung.. We were the first ones there (among the guests she invited), understandable since the rain was super heavy. The party was supposed to be on the roof top but due to the rain they had to set up in the cafe itself. Hanis and I helped Tania finish up tying ribbons and thank you cards to the doorgifts Tania got for all of us and then we watched the team at Cat In The Box do their magic with the deco.

I'm so repeating this outfit in daylight, I think it'd look better under natural lighting haha.
But anyway, best compliment ever when Arissa told me I look like Vivy Yusof !!!
Wanted to cry because Vivy is my role model in like every single frickin' aspect.

Obligatory mirror selfie. Tak sah kalau takda, knowing me.

Mel's knees were breaking. She's crying on the inside

Don't mind Hanis, her eyes blink in sync with the shutter.
Proven in SO many pictures, I'm not being mean hahaha

I'm so lucky to be blessed with these girls as my best friends. 6 years and we're still the closest bunch. I've watched so many friendships die after school ends, or when someone moves to another school or anything like that, but I'm glad that our best-friendship knows no bounds. I loved Tania's caption on her Instagram post of this photo ; True friendship isn't about being inseparable, its being separated and nothing changes. So true when it comes to our group, different unis, some of us moved to different schools after form 4, Hanis and I live so far away from them, but nothing changes. All of them are beauty with brains with the biggest sense of humour and the best personalities. Here's to 60 more years of friendship with my Super Dupers.

When the rain stopped all of us moved up to the rooftop where Tania was going to blow the spark candle on her beautiful cake. I wish I could have stayed longer but I needed to leave since it was 10 something already. I think they played Taboo after that. But yeah it was nice seeing my best friends, and of course friends that I haven't seen in a while and making new friends at Tania's party. It was a really fun day for me, and I can't wait til the next time we all get to see each other again.

Got home, Skyped with Irfan because I miss him like crazy and then went to bed exhausted. I drove to uni this morning ! My mum told me to pay for my MSU parking sticker and she told me to get the 'P' sticker for the car (fun fact : I've never driven a car with a P sticker before haha. Maybe once in Hamizan's).... so I think that means I'll be driving the Charade and it's sort of my first car ??? I was so happy when mama told me to get the P sticker haha. Not a fancy car or whatever but so so grateful nonetheless. Gone are the days I have to rely solely on walking or taking public transport. I was so happy I even got an air freshener for the car to sort of 'make it mine'. Hahahaha.

Oh funny story, before I went to class this morning my mum told me I needed to refuel. I was like, okay. Asked her to explain how and all since it's going to be my first time and I thought I understood so when I got there, I parked and went to the counter and pay, and pulled the lever beside the driver's seat to open up the thingy with the hole to refuel (no idea what it's called, let's just pretend we have a word for it here). I went to the side of my car and I didn't know if I was unscrewing the cap right, it didn't seem to budge and I was panicking already haha. So I asked he indian lady who was refuelling up on the other side and she helped me unscrew and taught me step by step. Take the fuel pump, put it inside, press the thing and leave it until it's done, take it out, put it back, screw the cap, close it shut. Pagi pagi dah menyusahkan orang. But I did it !

I hope everyone else had a good weekend, and will continue to have a good week ahead. Oh and do leave me comments if you have anything specific that you'd want me to blog about, like current favourites or What's In My Bag (totally YouTube-inspired haha) or anything, really. xo

    1. Funny story haha. My best friends were talking about what super powers they would want to have and all that (this was back in 2009, I was the new kid in their school in 2010), and decided that the group name should be Super Dupers, so the name stuck until well, now. Super Dupers is kinda long and knowing us lazybums we shorten it to SuDu. Vivy has her ducks and I have my SuDu ! <3
