If I Stay

There are two types of emotional movies. One that makes you feel a certain type of emotion in a single scene,
and one that makes you feel a lot of emotions in less than 2 hours and leaves you feeling exhausted and satisfied by the end of it.
If I Stay is definitely the second one.

I just finished watching the movie and it was freaking amazing. I'm glad I didn't make the mistake of reading the book first before watching it because the last time I did that, I ended up being the only one who thought the movie wasn't great (hint : The Fault In Our Stars). If I Stay is now officially on the top 3 list of movies that has managed to make me bawl into tears like a maniac. The other two being The Impossible and Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part II. First off, Chloe Grace Moretz is beautiful, and boy can she really act. Her acting really brought out the emotion the movie was trying to portray to the audience. One second I was watching and the next second I was sobbing uncontrollably without realizing it. It was that good.

What really impressed me is that although it is an emotional movie, none of the emotions felt like they were forced. It was the true representation of young love and family, it was intense without being too heavy. Mia Hall was very relatable to me because like her, I have a younger brother, I'm extremely close to my parents and I am crazy in love with a boy a year older than me. So I guess that factor sort of amplified the emotions I felt watching the movie. The chemistry Mia (Chloe Moretz) has with Adam (Jamie Blackley) in the movie felt so genuine, and it represented teenage love so accurately, it's insane. Their relationship is on freakin' point. It's not even cheesy to me because the storyline wasn't pushing it, it wasn't ridiculously ambitious with the whole idea of this girl being in love. It was familiar but it wasn't cliche. Familiar because I know the kind of love Mia and Adam feel for each other.

I cannot stress enough how good the movie is. I didn't think I'd love If I Stay this much, heck I didn't think I'd even be this impressed. Really can't wait for Where She Went to come out next, it's the second and final book Gayle Forman wrote in this If I Stay series. I wanna read the book but I wanna be surprised by what happens next when I watch the movie, sigh the struggle. If you haven't watched it, go watch it. I doubt you'll regret it.

My day was pretty short, I had my first class of my second semester at 8 this morning and ended at 10. I was happy to see my friends, I didn't realize I missed them until I saw them haha. And then after paying my fees, I went home, binge-watched Gossip Girl and then came across If I Stay and voila ! Emotional movie day for Izza. I downloaded Shawshank Redemption because Irfan said it was good, so I'll be watching that later tonight. I hope it isn't an emotional movie, my heart wouldn't be able to take it anymore after If I Stay. xo
