We're the same age now ! (Just until the 23rd though haha)

I turned 18 a few days ago and it was one of the loveliest birthdays I've ever had. I still can't believe what my friends and boyfriend did for me because honestly, I wasn't expecting anything at all for my birthday. New friends, new everything, 2014 has been overwhelming (in a good way) and with everyone busy with uni / college / life I never thought that my birthday was something anybody would put any thought into. But man, did these people prove me wrong.

A few minutes before the clock struck 12 to mark the beginning of my birthday, I was already on Skype with Irfan. With my mess of a hair and elephant pants, Irfan was counting down the minutes to make sure he was the first one to wish / sing me a happy birthday and he was ! Then came my mother and brother singing for me outside my room followed by a family group hug. I was back in my room, talking to Irfan on Skype when my mother suddenly told me that she left something in the car and that I had to go help her get it. Opened the front door and there I saw my best friends Jane and Jiha with two little cakes in their hands, singing me happy birthday. I couldn't stop smiling ! It was so sweet of them to do that for me, I swear. Can't tell you how much I've missed the three of us being together in school along with Nabel and Asyraaf.

The morning of my birthday, I woke up to a few texts and Instagram notifications of my best friends tagging me in photos. Reading my birthday wishes got me teary eyed. It's the nicest feeling ever to be reminded of how much you mean to someone and how your existence in this world has actually made an impact in their lives. After I got up and showered, I dressed myself in a mint coloured pleated skirt that I got from Juliana's booth at the Pop & Soap Party a couple months ago, a white t-shirt, and a statement necklace that pulled the whole outfit together. Left the house for class around 9-ish, and my mother was all "I was in excruciating pain this time 18 years ago. You were born at 9.42AM and you were 3.9kg can you imagine ?" I came into this world 18 years ago but it was my mum who carried me in her tummy for 9 months and took good care of me since then. For that I'm extremely grateful to Allah for blessing me with the most wonderful woman as my mother.

After my 1 hour class, my friends and I had already planned the day before to have lunch at a little cafe called Foodsbury in Shah Alam. There was supposed to be 10 of us altogether, but somehow the rest of them had to come a little later so it was just me, Asifa, Miza and Farah at Foodsbury. Hana told me she was coming with Farah and Qahhar, Isha told me she needed to see Dzul and that they'll join us later and Iqa's mum was on her way to pick her up so she couldn't join us. We waited for almost an hour at Foodsbury for the rest to come, I was chatting away with the other three when suddenly I heard Happy Birthday being sung and in came Irfan smiling with a cake in his hands, Isha and Dzul with pink and black balloons and Hana holding chocolates. Oh. My. God. I was probably smiling like an idiot because I couldn't contain my happiness and of course I was teary but I didn't want to cry hahaha. After I blew off the candles on the cake, the first thing I asked Hana was "Mana you dapat Irfan ?!" Everyone couldn't stop laughing because the surprise worked and I didn't see any of it coming. I was incredibly touched. I've only known Hana and the rest for about 3 months and I can't believe they did that for me. And I especially can't believe that they got Irfan to be part of the surprise too !

We all sat and ordered food, my friends told me what they had to go through to get Irfan's number and plan everything. It was crazy funny and I enjoyed everyone's company. The food was alright, I wasn't exactly focusing on how my food tasted because I was still very surprised and I was too happy to eat. But the Almond Salted Caramel mille-crepe cake was amazing though. After taking a million and one photos of each other, we all had to go back to campus because we had a quiz at 3. Irfan drove me back to MSU and waited for me in the car while I did my quiz (too sweet of him). When I was done, Irfan and I went to One Utama to meet up with Ando and Su. We were supposed to have dinner with my family, but my mum couldn't that evening because she was caught up with work that we had to postpone. After spending a couple of hours with them, Irfan and Ando sent me back home.

My 18th birthday was definitely one to remember, and I can't thank my friends and family enough for making it extremely special for me. This month has been crazy hectic, but alhamdulillah I am loving September so far. I had Islamic Studies camp last Friday, and then it was my birthday. This week alone I had one presentation to do, an assignment, a project and a report to turn in, on top of that a quiz to prepare for so I'm glad it's finally the weekend.
